Why This Kolaveri di is a song from the Tamil movie 3 that was leaked unexpectedly onto the internet before the release of the movie. The video shows the stars of the movie Dhanush and Shruti Hassan along withdirector, Aishwarya Dhanush recording the song at the studio.

Not only has the song “Why This Kolaveri di” received a lot of interest, but the first look of the romantic comedy has also generated a huge hype in the film industry with movie buffs claiming that Dhanush and Shruti Hassan are the next best on-screen jodi of Tamil cinema.

According to sources, Dhanush and Shruti Hassan will also share a passionate kiss in 3.  Though director Aishwarya Dhanush did not confirm nor deny the rumor, she did say that it was too early to discuss but would add the kiss scene if the script demanded.

The movie itself is an emotional love story that boasts to be different and catchy and also means something poetic. With a lineup that has always given hits, this movie too will present audiences with a fresh and a new story line with great music to grove with.

Hitting screens on January 14, it’s a must see, so don’t miss.

Suriya’s Hari directed Singam, does not roar, it grunts! The film is watchable in parts only due to the awesome performance of Suriya, as a mass action hero cop. Hari is one director who refuses to move away from the comforts of the formula, and believes that he can go on rehashing his earlier films.Good guys among the criminals are treated to his home made Sambar, bad guys get his bullets. Enter Dorai Singam (Suriya) a no-nonsense sub-inspector at Nallur police station in Tirunelveli district, who never wanted to be a cop and would have preferred to run the family provision store. He joined the force as his father (Radha Ravi), always had high regards for the police force. The villagers love him and will do anything for him because he is upright and fair in all his dealings. On the other side of the coin is Mayilvahanam (Prakash Raj), an extortionist, kidnapper, runs ‘Kata Panchayat’ and also runs a real estate mafia in Tiruvanmayur area of Chennai. When one of his deals backfires, Mayilvahanam is forced to come and report to Dorai Singam at the Nallur police station and sparks fly. The Chennai don using his political clout has Dorai Singam promoted as Inspector and transferred to Tiruvanmayur police station in Chennai. A cat and mouse game ensues between Singam and Mayil, leading to a lot of twists and turns. And to assist him and do the comedy track there is ‘Eatu’ Erimalai (Vivek) The enmity between the two principal characters which started in Nallur travels to Chennai and ends in a bloody climax in Nellore. The film is racy at 2 hours and 35 minutes, and packaged as a mass masala entertainer. Needless to say seeing the valor and courage of Dorai Singam, Kavya (Anushka), a girl from Chennai and daughter of industrialist Mahalingam (Nasser) falls head over heels in love with him. Every scene and even dialogues and reactions from the supporting cast are predictable. Hari is obsessed showing a happy joint family in the first half, romance as usual is city girl falling for macho rural guy, even the song placements are exactly the same as his earlier films. Devi Sri Prasad’s music is serviceable, with “Stole my heart” being the best of the lot, though Hari’s picturisation is the same like his earlier films. The action scenes are well choreographed by Rocky Rajesh, especially the theatre fight and running chase scene between Suriya and Besant Nagar Ravi. Priyan has done well by trying to frame the hero and the lanky heroine in one frame. Of the performers Prakash Raj is becoming a ham villain, he needs urgently to reinvent himself and add more bite and character to his villain roles. Anushka is there only for glamour and songs, but does a decent job. Hari’s regular supporting cast including his father-in-law Vijayakumar is adequate. Ultimately it is Suriya who carries the film to the winning post. His passion and the way he brings an ordinary regular larger-than-life hero character alive on screen is lesson for other commercial heroes. On the whole, it is a predictable entertainer that follows the age old formula, which might appeal to viewers who finds comfort in mass masala entertainers. Watch it only for Suriya. He is in top form.

No fiction is 100 per cent imagination. Somewhere in its bottom lies a pinch of truth. And if blended with history with the carefulness of a master chef, it could result in a delightful dish, sorry, entertainer. Precisely that is the case of '7aum Arivu', A R Murugadoss' magnum opus starring Suriya, produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin.

The film takes us to the era of our valorous forefathers, explains their greatness, brings us back to the present, entertains us and ends up giving a message. Though a preachy tone at places could have been avoided, there is no denying that '7aum Arivu is one of the biggest entertainers of the year.

The story starts in 6th century AD, when a part of Tamil Nadu was ruled by Pallava kings. Bodhi Dharman (Suriya), a prince who is an expert at martial arts, medicine and 'nokku varmam' (or hypnotism) was sent to China with a purpose. There he imparts his skills to the Chinese, who learn them with all interest, and present death to him in return. But they start to worship him after that.

Cut to the present, China sends Dongli (Johnny Tri Nguyen), a modern day master of all skills taught by Bodhi Dharman, to India, as it comes to know that genetic engineering student Subha Srinivasan (Sruthi Haasan) has found circus artiste Aravind's (Suriya) DNA matches with that of Bodhi Dharman. As the neighbouring country plans a bio war against India, it feels that Bodhi Dharman, who could prevent its attempts, should not be given life again.

Suriya is superb as Bodhi Dharman, a great saint and Aravind, a circus artiste. The homework he has done for both his roles is visible on screen, especially in the first fight sequence with the Chinese and in the opening song (The actor performs some breathtaking circus stunts during 'Oh Ringa Ringa...').

Sruthi Haasan is not the usual heroine. The elder daughter of Kamal Haasan has a meaty role to play and she proves where she hails from. She pronounces Tamil like English and we have no complaints as long as she gets such urban-suave characters.

Johnny Tri Nguyen is menacing. His eyes do all the talking for him. There are others too in the cast (like Ilavarasu), but we are unable to remember them, thanks to one big factor, or actor, and it is Suriya. Harris Jayaraj's background score is good, but his songs remind the ones we had heard from him already.

Ravi K Chandran's cinematography is a pillar of support for A R Murugadoss. His stunning visuals in the first 20 minutes leave us in awe. Looks like there was much work for Antony's scissors, as there seem to be some cuts to the original footage considering the length, especially in the climax.

There are two things on the flipside for '7aum Arivu'- one is the glaring preachy tone which very often tells the greatness of ancient Tamils and how the race is suffering now, through lengthy dialogues. And the second is the visual effects. The main road fight scene before the climax, where vehicles collide with each other, is just a sample to prove our claim.

All said, Murugadoss has made a bold attempt and has succeeded in it with the help of Suriya and Udhayanidhi Stalin. The director should be lauded for conveying a bitter truth- that we are not aware of the greatness of our ancestors- in a sugar coating. This 'Ghajini' seems to be a winner in all his invasions.
